Terms of Reference
- Standardise requirements for onboarding clients in opt-in collective actions
- Consider the developing landscape in relation to distribution of proceeds in opt-out CAT cases. In particular: (1) identify crucial factors which will help with a successful distribution process (2) consider other efforts to help educate relevant stakeholders on practicalities of distribution

Environmental Litigation

Aims
- Support environmental group litigation – Facilitate and promote significant environmental group actions, including cases related to pollution, climate change, and biodiversity loss.
- Tackle legal and procedural challenges – Address obvious hurdles in environmental litigation group actions, eg standing to bring environmental claims, and proving harm.
- Influence legislative reform – Work with lawmakers to drive change in environmental legislation, including expanding access to justice for claimants affected by environmental harm and strengthening legal frameworks to allow for greater collective redress.
- Strengthen collaboration with key stakeholders – Engage with government bodies, NGOs, and other organisations to advocate for stronger environmental laws and more effective litigation.
- Increase CORLA’s role in advocacy – Discuss how CORLA can raise awareness of environmental group actions, influence public opinion, and engage with the media.
Financial Group Claims

Terms of Reference
- Support collective redress in the financial services sector – work with stakeholders and claimant firms to identify collectively actionable misconduct in the financial services sector, in order to facilitate redress
- Campaign on procedure – support CORLA in its aims to facilitate appropriate collective procedural mechanism if the courts and beyond, as those issues relate to claims in the financial services sector
- Dialogue with legislature and other stakeholders – assist CORLA in its dialogue with lawmakers, regulators, and other stakeholders, for the purpose of legal reform
International Issues

Terms of Reference
- To establish an authoritative voice in the global claimant arena in relation to UK based group actions / collective redress
- The coordination of global emerging group cases
- To develop strong relationships with key foreign stakeholders – especially close liaison with non UK claimant lawyers / like minded organisations in other jurisdictions
- To cooperate and share information in multi jurisdictional cases – possibly to be governed by consensual protocol arrangements – also NDAs
- To consider and comment upon official consultations / relevant proposed legislative changes of relevance
- To share and develop best practice
- To evaluate forum / choice of law issues which are in the best interests of our clients
- To cooperate in the petition for reform
NB The remit of this sub committee is not intended to impact commercially sensitive information, but to focus upon sharing technical and practical information in order to improve the prospects of claimants both in England and Wales and across other jurisdictions.
