Co-President David Greene comments on how the rugby brain injury claim highlights the benefits of litigation funding and the group litigation regime in allowing individuals access to justice when they have suffered harm.

“High profile claims, such as for brain injuries in sports, are a perfect example of how funding, and the group litigation regime, can help people who have suffered harm. It’s almost impossible for individuals to fund a claim against their sports governing body and few law firms can carry the considerable financial risk involved by funding the cases entirely by themselves.

We are seeing funded claims in so many important areas including big tech, the environment, medical negligence and personal injury. Without the financial muscle provided by funders many of these claims would simply not happen and claimants whose lives have been seriously impacted, including those involved in the sports head injury claim, would be left without any hope of redress and securing essential funds for any necessary treatment.”
