Gov’t Vows To Reverse PACCAR’s Litigation Funding Limits

The government said on Monday that it intends to reverse the ‘damaging effects’ of a U.K. Supreme Court hearing that it has threatened the business model of litigation funders, as the Post Office scandal revealed the growing role financers play in civil claims.

Martyn Day, co-president of The Collective Redress Lawyers Association welcomed the Lord Chancellor’s commitment to legislate as quickly as possible.

“It has been alarming to see those opposed to litigation funding – unscrupulous big businesses and their cheerleaders – attempting to argue for legislation to restrict funders and law firms from obtaining justice,” Day said on Tuesday.
